Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin comes to us from the curious mind of PJ Rigney of The Shed Distillery. It is located in rural Ireland on the edge of a lake, in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. PJ created The Shed Distillery with its medieval copper pot stills and began his quest to create an Irish Gin fusing Oriental botanicals with the local Irish ones. For PJ it's about bringing together unrelated things for the first time, seeing possibilities others don't.

The slow distillation process begins with an array of ingredients, then eight botanicals are added to the copper pot, meadowsweet, cardamom, juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica root, orris root, caraway seed, and star anise. Then four botanicals are added to the vapor basket, Chinese gunpowder tea, Chinese lemon, Oriental Grapefruit, Kaffir lime and allowed to rest and mature before being bottled, labeled, and packed by hand within The Shed Distillery.

Gunpowder Irish Gin tastes of citrus with floral notes, and green tea. The last sip tastes as strong as the first, just as PJ Rigney meant it to do. We recommend you enjoy it as you would in any cocktail that calls for Gin.
